Pianoplan
While there is a dedicated grand piano model, the pianoplan stairclimber can move any bulky cargo up to 600 kg up and down stairs. This product is available in three versions, each of which offers incredible dexterity, complete versatility, and flexibility for all types of loads.
The machine’s joystick control allows millimetre-accurate positioning thanks to its protected handles. Powered independent tracks and a sliding and tilting platform ensure that the load remains above the tracks at all times. With its extendable roller arm underneath, the machine can be rotated within its own axis and land on tight surfaces. Pianoplans can climb stairs up to 45° in gradient.
About the Three Models
For transporting objects that can be hoisted onto the platform of the Pianoplan stairclimber, the PIANOPLAN STANDARD with powered sliding platform is ideal. The object must also be able to be tilted to the angle of the staircase, up to 45 degrees. The hydraulically operated, sliding top plate keeps the load level at all times.
The PIANOPLAN HORIZONTAL, with powered tilting platform, can be used to load objects onto the platform of the Pianoplan stair robot. This Pianoplan maintains a horizontal platform up to 45° in relation to the angle of the stairs – to transport, for example, a photocopier that must be kept in a horizontal position to prevent fluid loss.
Using the PIANOPLAN VERTICAL, with its powered tilting platform to vertical position, is most suitable when rotating an object from vertical, onto its side, effectively onto the Pianoplan platform. As an example, when carrying a bulky refrigerator, the Pianoplan Vertical can lift and rotate the refrigerator into position on the robotic stair climber. The stabilisers ensure that all the work is done in complete safety. Upon ascending the steps or stairs, the refrigerator is returned to its upright position.
Pianoplan’s staircrawler eliminates the need for manual handling of large and bulky items while complying with OHS regulations, reducing the risk of slips or trips, and increasing productivity and efficiency.
Ascending 50 floors on a single charge, manoeuvring around landings as narrow as 850 mm, changing the speed and steering on stairs or over ground with a joystick, as well as an electromagnetic brake for maximum safety – the Pianoplan stairclimber guarantees that backache and physical pain are a thing of the past.
The innovative stairclimbing robot reflects the finest and most advanced European technology. It is economical, speedy, powerful, and easy to operate.

Benefits and Features of the Pianoplan
EASY TO USE
At the touch of a button, you can change the climbing speed, the platform angle, and move the load relative to the tracks to get a better centre of balance.
ECONOMIC
For a job that usually requires four or five people, just one or two operators are required.
JOYSTICK OPERATION
With one finger on a joystick, you can control speed and steering on stairs or on the ground.
SAFE
The traction gear is equipped with an electromagnetic brake to ensure maximum safety in the event of a power failure.
SPEEDY AND POWERFUL
A single charge can allow it to climb approximately 50 floors due to its powerful motors and steel loading platform.
TIGHT LANDINGS
With its very clever lifting system, the Piano plan is able to handle very bulky loads (like a piano) in very small spaces.
THREE MODELS TO CHOOSE FROM:
- Pianoplan Standard (PPS600) – with powered sliding platform
- Pianoplan Horizontal (PPH600) – with powered tilting platform
- Pianoplan Vertical (PPV600) – with powered tilting platform to vertical position
Applications
Pianoplan is often the only solution when there is no other option. Often, items weighing up to 600 kg are too heavy for a lift, or perhaps the item to be moved is the lift motor and gearbox!
The Pianoplan takes advantage of every available millimetre on tight stairs and landings. Piano installation and removal is a common residential application, however the Pianoplan really shines in commercial applications, including kitchen and laundry equipment, industrial white goods, and electrical cabinets.
Pianoplan Horizontal allows the load to be kept level, ideal for sensitive freight that cannot be tipped on its side such as medical devices, industrial multi-functional printers and beverage vending machines.
Pianoplan Horizontal allows the load to remain level, making it ideal for sensitive freight such as medical devices, industrial multi-functional printers, and vending machines. Having the ability to self-load makes Pianoplan Vertical perfect for food and pharmaceutical machinery, industrial HVAC, and money exchanges.
Other applications include:
- Glass Panels
- Hospital Equipment
- Marine Pumps
- Safe and Vaults
- Signage
- Ski Lift Gondolas
- Stone Bench tops
